Zombie Conga


With the first iteration of buffs in the game it felt necessary to do a tuning pass on the initial difficulty. My hope is to have the game quite difficult to start out with but as you earn Beans you can ease the difficulty a bit. I will be making 3 levels eventually and will be tuning each one harder than the last as well. So here is the first pass to see how buffs affect things. For now I have focused on giving the zombies a tune up.

  • Zombies speed increased from 1 to 1.3
  • Zombies damage increased from 10 to 30
  • Zombies health increased from 20 to 25

With no buffs, it feels decently difficult. There are a few things I don’t like. For one, you could be just out of luck if ammo doesn’t drop for you. It has happened frequently enough for me that I am going to take another pass at the loot table for basic zombies. I am also adding in some loot spawners across the level. Radio and Compass will be able to help you find them, just like survivor camps.

The other thing I don’t like is that kiting is probably the best strat at the moment. With ammo at a premium you may be best just running and making huge zombie conga lines. I'm addressing this with more spawners in key areas. I have already adjusted the spawners in the church parking lot. There is a lot more pressure on the player to move and less opening for them. Hopefully I will be able to strike a balance between fighting and running.
